Privacy Policy

1. Who we are & the scope of this policy

Helixspan (the “service”) is operated at healthspancalc.com. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, how it is used, and what choices you have. It applies to everything served from healthspancalc.com and any subdomains.

We have written this policy to be readable. If anything is unclear, the contact details at the bottom of the page reach a real person.

2. What we collect

The Helixspan calculator runs entirely in your browser. The inputs you enter — age, sex, height, weight, exercise, sleep, diet, smoking status, alcohol, stress level — are processed on your device and never transmitted to our servers.

The site does, however, automatically receive a small amount of standard technical information:

We do not ask you to create an account, do not collect names or addresses, and do not sell any data to anyone.

3. How we use information

We do not profile you, do not train AI models on your inputs, and do not contact you with marketing.

4. Cookies and local storage

Helixspan itself sets no cookies. The site does write to your browser's local storage and URL hash to remember your most recent calculator inputs across reloads — this is also why the "Copy link" feature works: your settings are encoded into the URL fragment, not sent to a server.

Third-party services we embed may set cookies in your browser. The most significant is Google AdSense (described in detail below). You can clear cookies and local storage at any time from your browser settings.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

Helixspan displays advertisements served by Google AdSense, a service provided by Google LLC. Google uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and to measure their effectiveness. Specifically:

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we will request your consent for non-essential cookies and personalised advertising through Google's IAB-certified consent management interface before such cookies are set.

Google's privacy practices are described in the Google Advertising Privacy & Terms page.

6. Analytics

We use privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics to count page views and understand which features are used. Our provider does not store personal information and does not track you across sites. If our analytics provider changes, we will update this section.

7. When data leaves your browser

The only situations in which information leaves your browser are:

8. Your rights

Because we do not store identifiable information about you on our servers, most data-subject rights under the GDPR (EEA/UK) and CCPA (California) apply trivially: we have nothing about you to access, correct, or delete. You can clear your local storage at any time from your browser.

For data held by third parties we embed (notably Google), please use those providers' own data-subject request flows. Google's is linked in §5.

If you believe we are violating data-protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

9. Children

Helixspan is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can address it.

10. Not medical advice

Helixspan is an educational tool. The score, projected healthspan, and recommendations are population-level estimates derived from published research; they are not a diagnosis, prescription, or substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional. If you have specific medical concerns, talk to your doctor.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes — for example, if we add new third-party services or new regions require different language. We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for at least 14 days.
